3 STEPS TO CELIBACY

Celebrating Celibacy’s three step process to a complete celibate lifestyle is inspired by the Holy Scripture. We want to share and celebrate this gift and revelation with you.

STEP 1 GROUP PRAYER

According to the book of James the first phase is to form a group of believers. (James 5:16) James reveals that healing results when confession and prayer are mutually exchanged between people. Though we cannot always meet at the same place, distance is no barrier to the Spirit of God.  Utilizing the advances of modern forms of communication our prayer-line and email service offer each member a unique opportunity to assemble through the Spirit from nearly anywhere on the globe.

James calls us to confess our sins one to another. Confession requires that we recognize and acknowledge who we are and the strong hold that burdens us. As such, when members call or email they will be asked to state only their first name and the particular issue they struggle with. The objective is not to shame the caller but to fulfill the scripture which requires honesty and transparency between believers seeking healing through prayer.

Step 2 RENEWAL OF MIND

Celibacy is a renewal that begins in the mind. According to the Holy Bible, Paul wrote a letter to the Romans explaining that the renewing of ours minds results in a transformation which is the will of God. (Romans 12:2). Recall in the book of Psalms how that David asked God to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him (Psalms 51:10). To renew is to heal. As James reminds us, confessing and praying together brings spiritual healing. Thus, after we pray our minds are renewed and we are well on our way toward the final step of actually living the gift of celibacy.

Step 3 TRANSFORMATION

Again in Romans, Paul explains that transforming our behavior instead of conforming to society’s expectations fulfills the “perfect will of God”(Romans 12:2). While renewal of the mind is a positive change in thinking, transformation is a change in behavior. Transformation occurs in the practice of celibacy. The celebration of celibacy comes full circle after our prayers renew our thoughts and ultimately transform our behavior.
